Pastor Rod Mullen began serving Mount Tirzah UMC in June of 2023, along with our sister church Allensville UMC, located a few miles down the road. He is a native of Durham, educated at Duke University and at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He has served a number of United Methodist Churches around Eastern North Carolina. He has also served Methodist Churches near Birmingham, England, for three years while he was working there on behalf of the United Bible Societies.
As a hobby he enjoys dressing up as a Revolutionary War soldier and has recently been nominated as State Chaplain for the Sons of the American Revolution.
His wife Xia is originally from Hunan, China, and is a real estate agent. They have two daughters ages 5 and 7.
His uncle, William D. Mullen, served Mt. Tirzah several years ago.
